AssetTiger was the only asset tracking product that ChatGPT and Gemini named in all six of six answers when we asked them, on 6 August 2026, which asset tracking software is best; Asset Panda came second, named in 5 of 6.
We put six buyer questions to ChatGPT and Gemini, gave each answer one live web search, and logged every product named and every source domain cited. Fourteen different products came up across the six answers, but only two cleared the halfway line: AssetTiger at 6 of 6 (100%) and Asset Panda at 5 of 6 (83%).
The shortlist, and how far the leaders pulled ahead
AssetTiger and Asset Panda were effectively the default recommendation: named in 100% and 83% of answers respectively, AssetTiger in all six questions and Asset Panda in five. No third product came anywhere close to them.
Behind the two leaders sat a tight pack of five products each named in exactly half the answers, 3 of 6 (50%): Freshworks Freshservice, Lansweeper, ManageEngine AssetExplorer, Sortly and Wasp AssetCloud Complete. Just below them, itemit and Snipe-IT were each named in 2 of 6 answers (33%).
A long tail of five products was named just once each, 1 of 6 (17%): GLPI, Peoplesoft Enterprise Asset Management, Spiceworks Inventory, trackease.app and Zoho Creator. Where those single mentions came from turns out to be the most interesting part of the data.
How the shortlist changed from "best" to "free" to "affordable"
The single most useful thing here is how far the shortlist moved when we changed one word in the question. The bare "best asset tracking software" returned eight names, led by Asset Panda, AssetTiger and Sortly, and it was the only one of the six questions to surface Peoplesoft Enterprise Asset Management (1 of 6 overall).
Ask instead for the "best free asset tracking software" and four of the five names are ones the plain "best" answer never mentioned. The free answer named Snipe-IT, AssetTiger, Spiceworks Inventory, GLPI and Zoho Creator. Three of those, Spiceworks Inventory, GLPI and Zoho Creator, appeared in this one question and nowhere else across the other five. AssetTiger was the only name to cross over from the paid list, which fits because AssetTiger is itself a free tool.
The "most affordable asset tracking software" question bridged the two worlds with four names: AssetTiger, Snipe-IT, Asset Panda and itemit. Snipe-IT showed up only in the free and affordable questions (2 of 6) and never in a plain "best" answer.
The most personal phrasing produced the shortest list of all. "What asset tracking software should I use" returned just three names: AssetTiger, Asset Panda and itemit. The "for small teams" variant shared seven of its eight names with the plain "best" list, adding just one name of its own, trackease.app (1 of 6).
The takeaway for anyone selling here: there is no single "best asset tracking software" answer to win. There are at least three separate shortlists, the paid roundup set, the free and open-source set, and the affordable middle, and a product like Spiceworks Inventory or GLPI can own the free question (1 of 6) while being invisible in the other five.
The source map: who fed the answers
Two domains fed all six answers: reddit.com (6 of 6) and assettiger.com (6 of 6). Forbes was next at 5 of 6 (83%), then a pair at 4 of 6 (67%): Asset Panda's own site assetpanda.com and the review directory g2.com.
Community threads were everywhere in this category. Reddit fed every answer (6 of 6), Quora fed 3 of 6 (50%), and community.spiceworks.com fed 1 of 6. Editorial roundups carried much of the rest: forbes.com (5 of 6), g2.com (4 of 6), plus one appearance each (1 of 6) from gartner.com, blog.invgate.com, apps365.com, budibase.com and quidlo.com. YouTube fed 2 of 6 (33%).
Here is the key insight. The vendors whose own site was cited are almost exactly the vendors who got named. AssetTiger's own site fed 6 of 6 answers and AssetTiger was named in 6 of 6. Asset Panda's site fed 4 of 6 and Asset Panda was named in 5 of 6. The pattern repeats down the list: sortly.com (3 of 6, Sortly named 3 of 6), itemit.com (2 of 6, itemit named 2 of 6), snipeitapp.com (1 of 6, Snipe-IT named 2 of 6) and zoho.com (1 of 6, Zoho Creator named 1 of 6). When an assistant can reach your own page, it tends to repeat your name.
On review directories specifically: G2 did appear, feeding 4 of 6 answers (67%), and Gartner appeared once (1 of 6). Capterra did not appear in a single answer. So a G2 presence was worth something here, but the "be on every review directory" playbook was not the main driver: community threads and vendors' own pages did more of the work.
What a vendor here would do to get named
If you sell asset tracking software and you want to be named, the job is not "grow market share," it is "get into these exact pages." Six sources did most of the work: reddit.com (6 of 6), assettiger.com (6 of 6), forbes.com (5 of 6), assetpanda.com (4 of 6), g2.com (4 of 6), then quora.com and sortly.com (3 of 6 each). Being present and well spoken of in that specific set is what put a product into the answer.
Two of those six top sources are vendor-owned (assettiger.com and assetpanda.com), and that is the part you control. You cannot buy your way onto Reddit, but you can make your own site answer the buyer's question plainly enough to be quoted, which is exactly what got AssetTiger named 6 of 6. Note too that the source list, not company size, decided this: Peoplesoft, a very large enterprise product, was named 1 of 6, while itemit was named 2 of 6. And Freshservice, Lansweeper, ManageEngine and Wasp reached 3 of 6 each on roundup coverage alone, with no page of their own cited.
The full list, counted
| Product | Named in | Share |
|---|---|---|
| AssetTiger | 6 of 6 | 100% |
| Asset Panda | 5 of 6 | 83% |
| Freshworks Freshservice | 3 of 6 | 50% |
| Lansweeper | 3 of 6 | 50% |
| ManageEngine AssetExplorer | 3 of 6 | 50% |
| Sortly | 3 of 6 | 50% |
| Wasp AssetCloud Complete | 3 of 6 | 50% |
| itemit | 2 of 6 | 33% |
| Snipe-IT | 2 of 6 | 33% |
Five more products were each named once (1 of 6, 17%) and sit just below this table: GLPI, Peoplesoft Enterprise Asset Management, Spiceworks Inventory, trackease.app and Zoho Creator.
Glotier does not sell asset tracking software, so we are correctly absent from all six of these answers, and we would be suspicious of our own tool if we were not. We build none of these products, and none of these sources have any reason to name us.
But running this measurement is exactly what Glotier does for the category you do sell in: the same six-question fan-out, the same record of who got named and which sources fed each answer, pointed at your product instead of AssetTiger's. If you want to see where you land, the check is free, needs no account, and takes about a minute.
