The best SEO tools, and the one thing none of them measure
By Oğuzhan Tüsen @oguzhanglotierPublished Figures last checked
The SEO suites are genuinely good at what they do. The gap is not in keywords or backlinks. It is that a buyer now often starts by asking an assistant, and almost none of these tools tell you whether the assistant named you. Here is what the best tools already do, the column they leave blank, and our own numbers on it.
What the best SEO tools already do well
Credit where it is due. On the classic jobs, the mature suites are competent and largely interchangeable, and the right one is usually whichever your team already knows. The list below is not a knock on them. It is the setup for the one row at the bottom.
| The job | Who does it |
|---|---|
| Keyword research and search volume | Every serious SEO suite. This is solved. |
| Rank tracking for your keywords over time | Every serious SEO suite. |
| Technical and on-page site audits | Every serious SEO suite. |
| Backlinks and referring domains | The larger suites, and it is their moat. |
| Content and brief generation | Most, with a writing add-on. |
| Whether ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity name you when asked | Almost none of them, and it is the question buyers now start with. |
The measurement they skip
None of the standard suites put a real buying question to ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity and record two things: were you named, and which pages did the answer get built from. That is not a keyword rank and a rank tracker cannot produce it. It is a different scoreboard on the same field, and it is the one a buyer sees first when they ask an assistant “what should I use for X” instead of typing the query into a search box.
The reason it matters: an assistant does not read your marketing. It runs a live web search and assembles an answer from whatever ranks, most of which you do not own. So the question is not “where does my page rank” but “when the machine assembles the shortlist, is my name on it, and what did it read to decide.”
What Glotier does, and what it does not
Glotier asks the three assistants the real buying questions in your category, on one shared live web search per question, and records whether you were named and every source the answer was built from. It then watches those two things move week over week. That is the blank column, filled, and it is priced in tens of dollars a month rather than as a second enterprise suite.
What it is not: a replacement for your rank tracker. GEO depends on SEO, because a page has to rank to be retrieved. Keep the suite you have for keywords and backlinks. Add the one measurement it does not make.
The proof, from our own site
We do not ask you to take the mechanism on faith, because we run it on ourselves and the numbers are public. Between 23 July 2026 and 29 July 2026, assistants sent us 6 real human visitors (3 from ChatGPT, 2 from Bing, 1 from Perplexity), measured by a browser beacon that no bot triggers. It is a small number, and it is real, and it is growing. 5 of those 6 landed on our original-measurement pages, not on a sales page. The pages the assistants sent people to were the ones with numbers in them.
And the honest part, because a page that only flatters us is not evidence. Put to the same test in our own category, across 18 buying answers we read in full, we were named 0 of 78 times. We publish that zero on our own dashboard next to everything else, because the product is a scoreboard and a scoreboard you can edit is worthless. Community pages, not vendor roundups, fed those answers: Reddit alone was cited in 12 of them.
