How we landed in Google’s AI Overview in 2 weeks

We build Glotier to help indie founders get discovered — so we run our own GEO playbook on glotier.com, in public. Two weeks after the domain went live, Google had indexed it, was ranking it, and had started generating an AI Overviewsummarising what we do. Here’s exactly what we did, and an honest read on what actually mattered.

The honest version of “we rank #1”

Let’s be straight: ranking #1 for your own brand name (“glotier”) isn’t the flex it sounds like — any indexed site wins its own unique name. The two things that are real signals: how fast a brand-new domain got crawled and trusted, and that Google chose to generate an AI Overview— a machine-written summary of what Glotier is. That only happens when your content is clear, consistent, and structured enough for a model to understand and trust it. That’s the same bar that gets you into ChatGPT and Perplexity answers.

What we actually did

1

One sentence, everywhere

The same crisp "X for Y" line on the homepage, the meta description, and the Organization schema. When every source says the same thing, a model can repeat it with confidence.

2

Structured data from day one

Organization JSON-LD site-wide, plus Article + FAQ schema on guides. This hands search and AI engines a clean, labelled description instead of making them guess.

3

Programmatic, genuinely-useful pages

"Best X", "X vs Y" and "X alternative" pages, and real guides — the exact page shapes models lean on when they recommend tools. Not thin doorway pages; pages a human would actually read.

4

A free tool as the front door

Our free AI-visibility check gives people a reason to link, share, and return — engagement signals that pull a new domain out of the sandbox faster.

5

Submit + verify, then get out of the way

Sitemap in Search Console, clean crawlable HTML (static export), consistent internal links. No tricks — just making it trivial to crawl and understand.

Why the AI Overview is the signal to watch

An AI Overview is Google reading your site and writing its own summary of you. If it gets that summary right, it means your positioning is legible to machines — and legibility is the whole game in generative search. The engines that answer “what should I use?” (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity) reward the exact same thing: clear, consistent, well-structured claims they can quote.

What we’re honest about

The real test is competitive, non-brand keywords — “AI visibility tool”, “ChatGPT brand monitoring” — where we’re still climbing. We track all of it with Glotier itself and publish the moves (good and bad) in our Labs devlog. If you want the strategy behind this, start with Generative Engine Optimization.
