Everstage was the only product ChatGPT and Gemini named in all six answers, appearing in 6 of 6 (100%) when we put six buyer questions about sales commission software to them on 6 August 2026. No other product came close to that.
Three products tied for second at 5 of 6 (83%): CaptivateIQ, QCommission and Qobra each landed in five of the six answers. QuotaPath and Spiff followed at 4 of 6 (67%). Those six products are the stable core of this category, and every other name we recorded appeared exactly once.
Below the core six, twelve more products each surfaced in just 1 of 6 answers (17%). A single appearance out of six is the line between being on the shortlist and being a footnote, and most of the category sits in that footnote, including well-known enterprise names like Xactly and SAP Commissions.
How the shortlist changed from question to question
The shortlist was not one list, it moved with the wording of the question. Across the six sub-questions the answers ranged from five names to eight, and the largest swing came from a single word, "free."
The plain "best sales commission software" question returned five names: Everstage, CaptivateIQ, Salesforce Spiff, Qobra and QCommission. "Sales commission software recommendations" returned seven, the same core plus Spiff, QuotaPath and Sales Cookie. "For small teams" stayed close too, with Everstage, QCommission, CaptivateIQ, Spiff and QuotaPath. Ask the everyday buyer questions and you get roughly the same six or seven products in a slightly different order.
"Best free sales commission software" broke that pattern. It kept Everstage, Qobra and QuotaPath, dropped CaptivateIQ, QCommission and Spiff entirely, and pulled in five names that appeared in no other answer: ElevateHQ, Tremendous, Infinite MLM Software, Cloud MLM Software and SalesVista. Two of those five are MLM software and Tremendous is a rewards and payouts platform, so the word "free" quietly changed what "commission" meant.
"Most affordable sales commission software" shifted the list a third way. It brought the enterprise names back, with CaptivateIQ, QCommission and Spiff all returning, but added three products seen nowhere else: Xactly Incent, Visdum and Driven. So "free" and "affordable," which a buyer might treat as the same intent, produced almost non-overlapping tails.
"What sales commission software should I use" produced eight names, tying for the widest answer in the set, and it was the only question where Xactly and SAP Commissions appeared. Counting across all six questions, twelve of the eighteen products we saw showed up in exactly one sub-question each, which means two thirds of the category is visible only under one specific phrasing.
The takeaway for anyone selling here: there is no single AI shortlist to win. "Best," "free" and "affordable" are three different searches with three different winners once you get past the top two or three. Everstage held all six, Qobra held five including every price-sensitive variant, and after that, which list you land on depends on the exact question the buyer typed.
The source map behind the answers
Seventeen source domains fed these six answers, and the pattern in them explains the rankings better than any feature list would.
Reddit was the most-used community source, feeding 4 of 6 answers, and there was no Quora in this run at all. The community thread is not a tie-breaker in this category, it is a primary input, cited as often as the biggest review directory.
Review directories did appear, but less than their reputation suggests. G2 fed 4 of 6 answers and Capterra fed 1 of 6. Together the two directories touched five of the six answers, the same reach as Reddit on its own. Roundup and content sites carried the rest: hoppier.com in 3 of 6, croclub.com in 2 of 6, plus 6sense, forma.ai and joinhomebase once each.
The key insight is in the vendor domains. everstage.com was the single most-cited source of all, feeding 6 of 6 answers, and Everstage was the one product named 6 of 6. qcommission.com fed 5 answers and QCommission was named in 5. qobra.co fed 4 and Qobra was named in 5. The products that own a page the assistants pull from are, over and over, the products the assistants name.
That is not the only route in, and the honest exception proves it. CaptivateIQ was named in 5 of 6 answers while captivateiq.com fed just 1 of 6. It rode in on G2, Reddit and the roundups instead of its own site. So there are two ways onto the list: be the source yourself, or be the product those independent sources talk about. Everstage did both, and that is why it never missed.
What a vendor here would do to get named
If you sell sales commission software and you want to be in these six answers, the source map is your to-do list, not your ad budget.
The move that correlates with being named is being present in the exact places the assistants pulled from: a page on your own domain that answers the buyer question, a presence on G2 (4 of 6) and Capterra (1 of 6), and a mention in the Reddit threads that fed 4 of 6 answers. Market share is not what put QCommission in 5 answers, a qcommission.com page inside 5 of them is.
This is why the target is measurable and specific rather than vague. You are not chasing a soft awareness number, you are chasing seventeen named domains across six named questions. Either your product shows up when a buyer asks ChatGPT or Gemini for the best sales commission software, or it does not, and you can check which today.
Where Glotier fits, honestly
Glotier does not sell sales commission software, so we are correctly absent from all six of these answers. That is the right result, and we would be worried if a general tool like ours turned up in a category we do not serve.
The measurement above, though, is exactly what we do for a customer's own category. We put six buyer questions to ChatGPT and Gemini, recorded every product named and every source behind each answer, and turned it into the table below. For a commission-software vendor, this same run would show whether Everstage is pulling ahead in your space and which Reddit thread or G2 page is doing the work.
If you want your own category mapped like this, the check is free, needs no account and takes about a minute.
The full list, counted
| Product | Named in | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Everstage | 6 of 6 | 100% |
| CaptivateIQ | 5 of 6 | 83% |
| QCommission | 5 of 6 | 83% |
| Qobra | 5 of 6 | 83% |
| QuotaPath | 4 of 6 | 67% |
| Spiff | 4 of 6 | 67% |
| Salesforce Spiff | 1 of 6 | 17% |
| Xactly | 1 of 6 | 17% |
| Xactly Incent | 1 of 6 | 17% |
Two rows in that table are the same companies wearing a second label. Spiff appeared in 4 of 6 answers and also showed up once as "Salesforce Spiff" (1 of 6), and Xactly (1 of 6) also appeared as "Xactly Incent" (1 of 6). We kept each label as its own row and did not add the counts together, because the measurement never recorded a combined number and we will not invent one.
Below the top six, twelve products each appeared once (17%): Xactly, Xactly Incent, SAP Commissions, ElevateHQ, Tremendous, Infinite MLM Software, Cloud MLM Software, SalesVista, Visdum, Driven, Sales Cookie and Salesforce Spiff.
