GUIDEcx was the only tool named in all six answers, 6 of 6, when we asked ChatGPT and Gemini to recommend customer onboarding software. We put six buyer questions to the two assistants on 3 August 2026, one live web search each, and GUIDEcx came back in every one, a clean 100%.
Dock came second at 5 of 6 answers (83%), missing only the open-ended "what customer onboarding software should I use" question. No other product cleared four, so the shape of this category, as the assistants see it, is two names carrying nearly every answer over a long tail of tools that appear once or twice.
Four products tied at 4 of 6 answers (67% each): Appcues, HubSpot, Rocketlane and Userpilot. Below them Flowla landed 3 of 6 (50%), and a cluster of four, ChurnZero, OnRamp, Pendo and Userlane, each surfaced in 2 of 6 (33%). In all, the two assistants named 21 distinct products across the six questions, but only seven of the 21 appeared in more than two answers.
How the shortlist changed across the six questions
The six questions were close paraphrases of each other, yet the shortlists moved a lot, and only GUIDEcx survived all six. The bare "best customer onboarding software" question returned GUIDEcx, Dock, HubSpot, Userlane, Skilljar, Flowla, ChurnZero and Supademo. Two of those, Skilljar and Supademo, appeared in this question and nowhere else across the other five. This "best" list also barely matched the price lists: of its eight names, only GUIDEcx, Dock and HubSpot also made the free answer, and just GUIDEcx and Dock made the affordable one.
Swapping "best" for "best free" changed the list more than the word suggests. The free answer (GUIDEcx, Dock, OnRamp, Rocketlane, HubSpot, Pendo, Appcues, Userpilot) and the "most affordable" answer (GUIDEcx, Rocketlane, OnRamp, Dock, Appcues, Pendo, Userpilot, Valuecase) shared seven of their eight names. Both surfaced OnRamp and Pendo, which the four non-price questions never did: OnRamp and Pendo were each named 2 of 6, and only in these two money questions. The free list's odd one out was HubSpot; the affordable list's was Valuecase, named in that one question and nowhere else.
The vaguest phrasing produced the strangest list. "What customer onboarding software should I use" returned HubSpot, GUIDEcx, Asana, Monday.com, Rocketlane, SafetyCulture, monday CRM and DocuSign, the only answer to reach for general work tools. Asana, Monday.com, monday CRM, SafetyCulture and DocuSign each showed up here and in none of the other five questions. It was also the one answer that dropped Dock, which otherwise ran the table at 5 of 6.
"For small teams" had its own two exclusives, Arrows and Gainsight, each named once and in that question alone. Add it up and 10 of the 21 products we saw were named in exactly one of the six answers. Change the buyer's wording a little and a third of the shortlist changes with it.
The source map: which domains fed the answers
Behind the six answers sat 14 source domains, and the top three were cited in every answer: docebo.com, reddit.com and userpilot.com, 6 of 6 each. So the assistants leaned on one community source and two roundup-style blogs for every single recommendation they gave.
Reddit was the community voice, and not a minor one: reddit.com appeared in all 6 answers, as often as any vendor or roundup site in the set. Quora did not appear at all. Neither did the review directories buyers might expect, since G2 and Capterra are both absent from all six answers. The only analyst-style source was gartner.com at 2 of 6, and youtube.com showed up in 3 of 6.
Here is the finding that matters most if you sell in this category: the vendors whose own domains fed the answers are, over and over, the vendors who got named. GUIDEcx is the clearest case. guidecx.com was a source in 5 of 6 answers and GUIDEcx the product was named in all 6. dock.us fed 4 answers and Dock was named in 5; rocketlane.com fed 4 and Rocketlane was named in 4; appcues.com fed 2 and Appcues was named in 4; userpilot.com fed all 6 and Userpilot was named in 4. Their published comparison pages are not just traffic, they are the raw material the assistants quote back.
The counter-examples sharpen the point. docebo.com was the joint most-cited domain at 6 of 6, but Docebo the product was never named in any answer, a roundup publisher whose list gets quoted while its own tool stays out of the conversation. And onramp.us fed 5 of 6 answers, yet OnRamp the product was named only 2 times. Feeding the answer helps you appear; it does not by itself make you the pick.
What a vendor here would do to get named
If you sell customer onboarding software and you want to be in these answers, the lever is not market share, it is presence in this exact source list. The six answers were built from 14 domains, and the same handful, reddit.com, docebo.com, userpilot.com, guidecx.com and onramp.us, did most of the feeding. Getting named is downstream of being on those pages.
Concretely, this data points to three moves. Show up in the Reddit threads the assistants keep quoting, since reddit.com fed 6 of 6 answers. Get into the roundup posts on the blogs that rank for these queries, because docebo.com and userpilot.com each fed all six. And publish your own comparison content, because the vendors who did, GUIDEcx, Dock, Rocketlane, Appcues and Userpilot, are the ones named 4, 5 and 6 times. None of that requires being the biggest tool in the category; it requires being in the sources.
The full list, counted
Every product named in at least two of the six answers, with the counts exactly as we measured them:
| Product | Named in | Share |
|---|---|---|
| GUIDEcx | 6 of 6 | 100% |
| Dock | 5 of 6 | 83% |
| Appcues | 4 of 6 | 67% |
| HubSpot | 4 of 6 | 67% |
| Rocketlane | 4 of 6 | 67% |
| Userpilot | 4 of 6 | 67% |
| Flowla | 3 of 6 | 50% |
| ChurnZero | 2 of 6 | 33% |
| OnRamp | 2 of 6 | 33% |
| Pendo | 2 of 6 | 33% |
| Userlane | 2 of 6 | 33% |
The other 10 products each appeared once (17%): Arrows, Asana, DocuSign, Gainsight, monday CRM, Monday.com, SafetyCulture, Skilljar, Supademo and Valuecase. One note on counting: the assistants named "Monday.com" once and "monday CRM" once, as two separate labels, so we leave them as two rows of one rather than merging them into a single "Monday, 2" the data never actually showed.
Glotier does not sell customer onboarding software, so we are correctly nowhere in these six answers, and it would be a bad sign if we were. We measure this category, we do not compete in it. But the run above is exactly what we do for a customer's own category: put the six ways buyers phrase the question to ChatGPT and Gemini, record every product named and every source behind it, and show you where you stand and which pages to get into. If you want the same read on the category you do sell in, the check is free, takes about a minute, and needs no account.
