AppFollow and Birdeye were the only two products named in 4 of 6 answers when we put six buyer questions about review management software to ChatGPT and Gemini on August 3, 2026, and no product was named in all six. Every number on this page comes from that one measurement: six questions, one live web search per answer, every product and every source domain recorded.
Across the six answers, ChatGPT and Gemini named 30 different review management products, and only two of them cleared half the answers: AppFollow and Birdeye, at 4 of 6 each (67%). Six more products were named in 2 of 6 answers (33%): Alchemer, NiceJob, Okendo, Podium, TrueReview and Trustpilot. The other 22 products were each named in just 1 of 6 answers (17%). For a category this crowded, there is no single pick the assistants agree on.
How the shortlist changed across the six questions
The shortlist changed almost completely depending on which of the six questions we asked. The plain "best review management software" question returned eight names: Birdeye, NiceJob, Podium, GradeUs, GatherUp, Trustpilot, Reviewshake and AppFollow. The "best free review management software" question returned a nearly different eight: Okendo, Trustpilot, SpotOn, Broadly, Smoobu, rater8, Superchat and XM for Customer Experience. Only Trustpilot appeared on both, so 7 of the 8 "best" names were gone the moment we added the word "free."
The two overall leaders disappeared under any price framing. AppFollow and Birdeye were each named in 4 of 6 answers, yet neither appeared in the "best free" answer or the "most affordable" answer. If a buyer's question contains the word "free" or "affordable," the two products the assistants otherwise name most often were simply not there.
The "most affordable review management software" question was the narrowest of all six: it pulled from 8 source domains but surfaced only 2 product names, TrueReview and Zoho's review tools. Zoho's review tools appeared in this answer and nowhere else, and TrueReview appeared only here and in the "small teams" answer, so neither shows up when a buyer just asks for the "best."
Twenty-two products earned their single mention from exactly one of the six questions. Only the plain "best" question named GradeUs, GatherUp and Reviewshake. Only "best for small teams" named Experience.com, Reputology and Thryv. Only "what should I use" named Bazaarvoice, AppTweak, Mention and Sprout Social. Only "best free" named SpotOn, Broadly, Smoobu, rater8, Superchat and XM for Customer Experience. Only "recommendations" named REVIEWS.io, Yext Reviews, ReviewInc, Brand24 and AppReviewBot. Change the wording of the question, and a whole different set of vendors gets named.
The source map: who fed the answers
Two domains fed every single answer: reddit.com and zapier.com were each cited in 6 of 6 answers. One community forum and one how-to roundup were the only sources present in every answer, out of 18 distinct domains and 41 total citations we recorded.
Community threads and roundup articles carried most of the weight. On the community side, reddit.com appeared in 6 of 6 answers and quora.com in 2 of 6. On the roundup side, after zapier.com's 6 of 6 came thecxlead.com at 3 of 6, then thecmo.com, thedigitalprojectmanager.com and orcatec.com at 2 of 6 each, with brightlocal.com and reviewtrackers.com at 1 of 6. YouTube also appeared in 2 of 6.
The clearest lesson sits in the vendor domains. AppFollow's own site, appfollow.io, was cited in 4 of 6 answers, the same count as AppFollow the product was named (4 of 6). Three other vendors show the same shape: alchemer.com fed 2 answers and Alchemer was named 2 times, reviewinc.com fed 1 and ReviewInc was named 1, reviewshake.com fed 1 and Reviewshake was named 1. When a vendor's own indexable pages get read, the assistant names that vendor.
Review directories did appear, but they were not the deciding force here. G2 showed up across two subdomains, learn.g2.com in 2 answers and g2.com in 1, which we keep as separate rows rather than merging into one number. Capterra appeared in 1 answer and Gartner in 2. Every one of those was matched or beaten by the single Reddit thread and single Zapier article that sat in all 6 answers.
What a vendor in this category would do to get named
If you sell review management software and want to be named, this data points at the sources, not your market share. The eight products named more than once were not simply the biggest brands: TrueReview and NiceJob made the shortlist at 2 of 6 each because they were in the pages the assistants read, right alongside a larger name like Trustpilot (2 of 6). Being named is a function of being present in the exact Reddit threads, roundups and vendor pages the assistant pulls.
Concretely, that means the two domains in all 6 answers, a relevant reddit.com thread and the zapier.com roundup, plus the mid-weight roundups (thecxlead.com at 3 of 6, then thecmo.com and thedigitalprojectmanager.com at 2 of 6), and your own site. appfollow.io feeding 4 of 6 answers is the proof that your own published pages can be the citation. And because the shortlist changes per question, you need presence on the "free" and "affordable" pages too, not just the "best" ones, or you vanish the way AppFollow and Birdeye did on price.

Glotier does not sell review management software, so we are correctly absent from all six of these answers, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What you just read is the measurement itself: the same six-question, source-by-source check we run on our own category, and the one we run for a customer on theirs.
If you market one of these products, your own AI visibility is measurable in exactly this way, question by question and source by source. The check is free, takes about a minute, and needs no account.
