SurveySparrow and Zonka Feedback tied for the top of the NPS software category: each was named in 5 of the 6 buyer questions we put to ChatGPT and Gemini, more than any other product. Survicate came next at 4 of 6. No product was named in all six, and 23 different product names showed up in total.
Here is the setup in plain terms. On 2026-08-04 we asked ChatGPT and Gemini six versions of one shopping question, from the bare "best nps software" to "best free nps software" and "most affordable nps software." Each answer came from one live web search, and we recorded every product named and every source domain cited. Every figure on this page is out of those 6 answers. Those 23 names are really 22 brands, because one of them, Refiner, was labelled two ways.
When the wording changed, the shortlist changed
Only two names survived almost every phrasing. SurveySparrow (5 of 6) was absent from just one question, "best nps software for small teams." Zonka Feedback (5 of 6) was absent from just one too, "best free nps software." Every other product moved in and out depending on how we worded the question.
Three of the six questions behaved almost identically. "what nps software should I use," "most affordable nps software," and "nps software recommendations" shared the same six-name core: SurveySparrow, Zonka Feedback, Refiner, Satismeter, Survicate, and Promoter.io. Refiner, Satismeter, and Promoter.io were each named in exactly those three questions (3 of 6) and nowhere else.
The single word "free" rewrote the list. "best free nps software" was the only question to name Hotjar, Qualtrics, Startquestion, and Thermostat.io, each in just 1 of 6 answers. Jotform (2 of 6) surfaced for "free" and for "small teams," but for no other wording.
The bare "best nps software" pulled a more enterprise-flavored set that no other wording repeated. AskNicely, Medallia, and Sogolytics were each named in 1 of 6 answers, only here. Alchemer (2 of 6) appeared only for "best" and "best for small teams."
The niche wordings each had their own one-offs. "most affordable nps software" was the only question to name SurveyMonkey (1 of 6). "best nps software for small teams" was the only one to surface Usersnap, Typeform, and SurveyLegend (each 1 of 6). "nps software recommendations" was the only place Qualaroo appeared (1 of 6).
Put it together and the fan-out is stark: six wordings of one question produced 23 product names, and 13 of them appeared in only a single wording. If you measured just "best nps software," you would have missed the entire free-tier and affordable clusters, and undercounted SurveySparrow.
The source map: who fed the answers
Reddit is the backbone of this category. reddit.com was cited in all 6 of 6 answers, the only domain to appear in every one. A community thread, not a review site, is the single most influential source ChatGPT and Gemini drew on.
After Reddit, the most-cited domains were roundup and reference pages: proprofssurvey.com (5 of 6), then nps.edu, qualtrics.com, and thecxlead.com (each 4 of 6). Only one other community site appeared: quora.com, in 1 of 6 answers. One of those four, nps.edu, is a .edu address that shares the "NPS" acronym rather than a software review site, a reminder that these searches grab whatever the letters match.
Here is the insight that matters if you sell in this category: several products were named largely because their own domain was in the sources. ProProfs Survey Maker's own site, proprofssurvey.com, fed 5 of 6 answers and the product was named in 3 of 6. SurveySparrow's own site fed 3 of 6 and it was named in 5 of 6. Refiner's own site, refiner.io, fed 3 of 6 and Refiner was named in 3 of 6. Their own content is doing part of the citing.
Being cited is not the same as being recommended. Qualtrics is the clearest case: qualtrics.com fed 4 of 6 answers, tied for the third most-cited domain, yet Qualtrics the product was named in only 1 of 6. Its pages are being read as reference material about NPS, not as a recommendation of Qualtrics.
The review directories buyers expect were almost entirely missing. G2 did not appear in any of the 6 answers, and neither did Capterra. The only review-directory domain present was getapp.com, in 1 of 6 answers. In this category, Reddit threads and vendor roundups, not G2 or Capterra, are shaping the shortlist.
What this means if you sell NPS software
The list of sources, not your market share, decides whether you get named. Medallia and Qualtrics are two of the largest names in experience software, yet each was named in just 1 of 6 answers, because the pages ChatGPT and Gemini pulled did not put them on the shortlist.
To be named more often, be present in the exact pages these answers draw from. In this run that means the Reddit threads that fed all 6 of 6 answers, the roundups on proprofssurvey.com and thecxlead.com (4 to 5 of 6 each), and your own domain. Each of those three vendors, ProProfs, SurveySparrow, and Refiner, published content on its own site and was named in 3 or more of the 6 answers.

One brand, Refiner, was split across two labels by the assistants: "Refiner" in 3 of 6 answers and "Refiner.io" in 1 of 6. We keep them as two rows because that is how the data came back, rather than adding them into a combined number the measurement never produced.
We do not sell NPS software, and that is the point
You will not find Glotier in this list, and that is correct: we do not sell NPS software, so ChatGPT and Gemini should not name us here. But the measurement on this page, six buyer questions with every product and every source counted, is exactly what we run for a customer's own category. If you sell NPS software, this is your scoreboard, and today SurveySparrow and Zonka Feedback lead it at 5 of 6 answers each. Running the same check on your category is free, needs no account, and takes about a minute.
